Breeding of natural dye plants (turmeric, telang flowers, sweet potatoes)

The research aims to conduct a study of plant genetic resources as a source of natural dyes for food and beverages, namely turmeric, telang flowers and sweet potatoes. The source of funding is a 5th research grant (2018-2023) from the private company Sensient America (contact person Dr. Vergel Concibido from Sensient USA https://sensientfoodcolors.com/en-us/agronomy/), with a Cooperation Agreement through the Graduate School of Padjadjaran University. The last 5 years of research have produced S1, S2 and S3 graduates as well as publications in reputable national and international accredited journals. The 5-year research contract phase 2 (2024-2029) will be signed in mid-August or September 2024 at UNPAD.

About Faperta UNPAD

The Faculty of Agriculture, Unpad, was established on September 1, 1959. At the beginning of its formation, this faculty only held two study programs, namely Agricultural Engineering and Agricultural Socioeconomics. In line with the development of the times, this faculty now holds two undergraduate study programs (S1), namely agrotechnology and agribusiness. In addition, this faculty holds a master's program (S2), agricultural economics and soil science, and a doctoral program (S3), Agricultural Science.
