Assistance and Training for Local Potato Farmers and Internship Students for the Domestic Potato Agroindustry Corporate Development Program Based on the Closeloop System

The Domestic Potato Agroindustry Corporation Development Program Based on the Closeloop System is a synergistic collaboration between FAPERTA UNPAD, CV. Bumi Agro Technology, and also a partner of Local Potato Farmers. This collaboration has been carried out until now by focusing on developing the competence of local farmers in potato seed production with the implementation of the MBKM program for UNPAD students.

The implementation of this competency development activity for local potato farmers is used as an application of research results that have been carried out by universities and to improve the welfare of farmers. Competency development is carried out with intense assistance and cooperation in the production of Indonesia’s superior potato seeds, assistance is carried out on an ongoing basis. On June 13, 2023, the lecturer team and CV. Bumi Agro Technology has carried out a visit and assistance in Pasirwangi, Garut. The visit continued to local potato farmer partners in the Sembalun area of Lombok as of July 22, 2023, then to Bansari Temanggung on August 2-4, 2023. Visits are one part of the routine assistance carried out.

The competency development focused on this program is not only on the fostered farmer group but also students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjajdjaran University in the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) program. Student competence is expected to develop in terms of superior local potato seed production from upstream to downstream. Internship activities have been carried out by approximately 30 FAPERTA UNPAD students from August to October 2023. This program is expected to provide innovation in the procurement of superior local potato seeds from upstream to downstream, with the procurement of adequate equipment, the implementation of local farmer development and student internship programs.

 

About Faperta UNPAD

The Faculty of Agriculture, Unpad, was established on September 1, 1959. At the beginning of its formation, this faculty only held two study programs, namely Agricultural Engineering and Agricultural Socioeconomics. In line with the development of the times, this faculty now holds two undergraduate study programs (S1), namely agrotechnology and agribusiness. In addition, this faculty holds a master's program (S2), agricultural economics and soil science, and a doctoral program (S3), Agricultural Science.
