INFORMASI UNIVERSITY OF SKÖVDE

The University of Skövde, established in 1977, has grown rapidly in the recent years – from 300 to over 10,000 students. The University offers a range of traditional, but also cross disciplinary study programmes within a number of different areas. Our wide-ranging schools offer over 600 courses, and a choice of approximately 50 study programmes and master’s programmes.

AN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
The University of Skövde cooperates with approximately 90 partner universities worldwide, including most European countries, but also universities in Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Thailand and the United States. These partnerships involve the exchange of students, faculty staff, and international research. Every year over 200 international students from around the world come here to study. In line with the European Bologna Declaration of Education, The University of Skövde develops the curriculum to achieve greater compatibility and comparability internationally.

A MODERN CAMPUS
The University is located on a modern campus in central Skövde and offers an active student life. The campus includes a large parkland area, library, restaurants, Student Union Office, Student Support Office and the Student Affairs Office. Most student accommodation and the Student Union House are within walking distance from the campus. The library is the University’s central resource for information and literature and has approximately 120 000 volumes concentrating on the University’s areas of expertise. The University’s growth has generated an increased need for the premises, in which several new buildings have sprung up on campus over the past decade. The University’s campanile, which is an 18-meter-high bell tower, was completed in 1999 and is now a natural meeting place on campus.

GOTHIA SCIENCE PARK AND PORTALEN
Gothia Science Park – business incubator and talent factory, is the natural meeting place between industry and academia. In September 2009, an 11,000-square-meter building complex was inaugurated. This new building, named Portalen, houses the University of Skövde’s Research Centres and provides lab and office facilities for companies with a similar focus, making it one of the most integrated environments for research and development in Sweden.
